Fall brings new color to the trees, hunting season, and other seasonal changes. Businesses are making some changes this season, too, with special offers, new faces, and more.
Family Medical Centers, with practices in Floresville, La Vernia, and Stockdale, has welcomed David Santiago, M.D., to the practice. Santiago, who recently completed his family medicine residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Odessa, also has joined the staff of Connally Memorial Medical Center. The Brooklyn, N.Y., native has a wife and two children.

Area H-E-B stores will put family first for Thanksgiving. The stores will close at 2 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, to give partners and customers the opportunity to give thanks and spend time with their loved ones. Stores will reopen Friday, Nov. 23, at 6 a.m. and resume normal hours. Visit www.heb.com for more information.
Pecans are in season at Rhew Orchards on C.R. 403 near Floresville. They also offer lavender products, as well as homemade pies, cobblers, jams, and more. Gift certificates and baskets are available.

A number of City Base West businesses on San Antonio’s south side are offering seasonal specials with coupons in this issue of the Wilson County News. Lew’s Patio & Grill at the River Bend Golf Club, off Business 181 in Floresville, offers weekday lunch specials, including chicken and dumplings on Monday and fish tacos on Friday. The newest restaurant in Floresville also hosts “Lew’s Live,” live music on the patio, on Friday evenings beginning at 7:30 p.m.

And the Kicaster Country Store, located at 2239 F. M. 3432 in Adkins, is hosting market days on the third Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event includes a huge community garage sale, with vendor booths available for $10. This local venue is gaining a wide reputation for good food -- including certified Black Angus burgers -- and great music.
