Eagle Ford: East Central ISD trustees take oaths
EAST CENTRAL -- Members of the East Central Independent School District school board gathered Nov. 15 for their regular monthly meeting.
Following the prayer and pledge of allegiance, the oath of office was administered to board members recently elected to two-year terms, several awards were presented, and PTA President Emily DeLeon informed the board that Texas and local PTAs are signing the Resolution Concerning High Stakes, Standardized Testing of Texas Public School Students. The resolution “calls on the Texas Legislature to re-examine the public school accountability system and to develop a system that encompasses multiple assessments, reflects greater validity, uses more cost efficient sampling techniques and other external evaluation arrangements, and more accurately reflects what students know, appreciate and can do in terms of the rigorous standards essential to their success, enhances the role of teachers as designers, guides to instruction and leaders, and nurtures the sense of inquiry and love of learning in all students.”
In other business, the trustees:
•approved a motion for the board officers to remain the same.
•approved Board Policy Update 95.
•approved the 2011-12 school district audits.
