AUSTIN -- The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has announced the launch of Skills for Veterans, an initiative to address the unique challenges and training needs of veterans who served in the military post 9/11, many of whom are returning to the Texas work force. The commission has designated $1 million from the state’s Skills Development Fund to establish the initiative, which offsets employer-training costs for eligible veteran new hires in an effort to expedite the return of veterans to the work force. Gov. Rick Perry touted the industry-driven initiative during a recent Veterans Day ceremony in Dime Box.  . . .
