Compared to last week: Hay prices steady to weak. Trade and movement slow under fairly light buyer demand this week. Many hay buyers continue to purchase only for immediate needs. Some ranchers and farmers buying only limited needs due to recent warm and above average temperatures and grass conditions still adequate in some areas that received early rains. These areas mostly south, southeast, and east Texas have ample to a surplus of hay on hand. Some hay producers in these areas have lowered hay prices in order to try to move supplies. However, supplemental feeding is needed in dry areas where pasture conditions are poor. Prices for hay and pellets quoted per ton except where noted. . . .
