Esther Torres passed away Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, in Victoria, Texas, at the age of 51 years, 2 months, and 1 day. Esther was born Sept. 14, 1961, in Nixon, the daughter of Joe and Josefa Torres. She was a lifelong resident of Nixon.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Esther is survived by her husband, Alfredo Martinez Sr. of Nixon; her children, Dolores Martinez of Stockdale, Jeremy Martinez of Stockdale, and Freddy Martinez Jr. of Nixon; her siblings, Helen Aguilar of Nixon, Lucy Perez of San Antonio, Alicia Torres of Texarkana, Ernestina Mijares of Jasper, Corrina Perry of Sulphur Springs, Joe Torres of Seguin, Pat Torres of Nixon, Eloy Torres of Jasper, and Ernest Torres of Seguin; and four grandchildren.

Visitation was held Monday, Nov. 19, at 10 a.m. in the Macedonia Baptist Church in Nixon.

A funeral service was held Monday at 2 p.m. in the church, with the Rev. Rene Amaya officiating.

Interment followed in the Latin American Cemetery in Nixon.
