Franklin E. Thrailkill passed away on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, surrounded by his family, in his home in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on Aug. 1, 1923, in San Antonio, to Franklin Thrailkill and Myrtle Huggins.

He served as a pilot in World War II and retired with 37 years of service. He also served as a volunteer with the St. Vincent de Paul Society for numerous years.

He was joined shortly by his loving wife of 67 years, Irene Jonietz Thrailkill.

Franklin is survived by his sister, Sister Francis Marie Thrailkill, Ursuline Order; his children, Patricia Veselis, Diane Jordan and husband John, Frank Thrailkill and wife Joan, Larry Thrailkill and wife Ann, Dennis Thrailkill and wife Marilyn, and Holly Moher and husband John; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 6 p.m. in the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in San Antonio with a rosary at 7 p.m. Further visitation continued until 9 p.m.

The Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the church.

Interment followed in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio with full Air Force honors.
