Irene V. Thrailkill passed away on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 24, 1922, in China Grove, Texas, to John Jonietz and Bridget Dryzmalla.

Irene was a Eucharistic Minister and served as a volunteer at the Methodist Hospital. She also served as a volunteer with the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Her loving husband of 67 years, Franklin Thrailkill, predeceased her by one day.

Irene is survived by her sister, Justine Nelson; her children, Patricia Veselis, Diane Jordan and husband John, Frank Thrailkill and wife Joan, Larry Thrailkill and wife Ann, Dennis Thrailkill and wife Marilyn, and Holly Moher and husband John; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Sister Francis Marie Thrailkill, Ursuline Order.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 6 p.m. in the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in San Antonio with a rosary at 7 p.m. Further visitation continued until 9 p.m.

The Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the church.

Interment followed in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Memorial contributions may be made to Texas Hospice, 1100 N.E. Loop 410, Suite 615, San Antonio, TX 78209; the Alzheimer’s Association, 322 Eighth Ave., Seventh floor, New York, NY 10001; or to The St. Vincent de Paul Society, 1619 S. Flores St., San Antonio, TX 78204.
