AUSTIN -- Texas Public Safety Commission Chair Cynthia Leon and Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steven McCraw today issued the following statements regarding Commissioner John Steen’s resignation from the Texas Public Safety Commission and appointment as the 108th Secretary of State:

“We are grateful for Commissioner Steen’s dedicated service on the Texas Public Safety Commission for the last four years. His commitment to supporting the department’s mission and goals has been invaluable, and we wish him well in his new role as the Texas Secretary of State,” said Director McCraw.

“The Public Safety Commission has greatly benefitted from Commissioner Steen's service to the people of Texas and to his commitment to the Texas Department of Public Safety. While we will miss his presence on our Commission, Texans will continue to benefit from Commissioner Steen's leadership as the new Secretary of State,” said Chair Leon.
