George A. Zaiontz Jr., 81, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012. He was born on April 29, 1931, in Bexar County to George A. Zaiontz Sr. and Elizabeth Shadrock.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and parents-in-law Earnest and Elsa Doege.

George is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Helen Zaiontz; children Roy Zaiontz and wife Myra, Peggy Davenport, Barney Zaiontz and wife Loraine, and Laury Kizer and husband Larry; grandchildren Marc Zaiontz, Steven Zaiontz, Kate Davenport, Tyler Davenport and wife Sonia, and Alyssa Winkelmann and husband Tim; stepgrandchildren Myron Kizer and Crystal Kizer; sisters Sandy Carrol, Cecelia Schaefer and husband Wallace, and Ann Gienec and husband Jacob; numerous nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.

Visitation was held Sunday, Nov. 25, from 5-7 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service was held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Christ Lutheran of Elm Creek Church in Seguin with the Rev. Ann Kolmeier officiating.

Interment followed in the Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery in Seguin.

Memorial donations may be made to Christ Lutheran of Elm Creek Church, 3305 Church Road, Seguin, TX 78155.
