ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Compensation is at a rate of $200 per week plus $100 per completed and submitted crisis assessment, and mileage. If interested call Camino Real Community Services, 210-357-0359.

Offer condolences


Ruben Ortiz Barrera, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, friend, and lifelong resident of Floresville, Texas, entered eternal rest Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at 3:28 p.m. in the Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville, at the age of 69 years and 10 days. Ruben was born Nov. 9, 1943, in Floresville, the son of Antonio and Ninfa Ortiz Barrera.

After graduation from Floresville High School, Ruben was a carpenter for many years. Ruben was of the Catholic faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Santiago Barrera, Richard Barrera, and Vicente Barrera.

Ruben is survived by his beloved wife, Faustina Rodriguez; his children, Joe and Sandra Barrera, Gilbert and Naomi Salazar, Bernardo and Linda Rodriguez, Maria D. Salazar, Tom and Calletana Ojeda, Gilbert Cruz and Rose Barrera, and Olivia Barrera; his grandchildren, Shantel Twana Barrera, Oscar Hernandez Jr., Bernardo Rodriguez III, Ruben Hernandez, Gilbert Rodriguez, Misty Ojeda, Summer Rodriguez, Crystal Ojeda, Daniel Barrera, Billy Herrera III, Daniel Herrera, Brianna Herrera, Mary Anthony Martinez, Kaylah Kapri Cruz, Faustina Salazar, and Gilbert Anthony Cruz II; his 17 great-grandchidren; his sisters, Rosella Robles and Lucy Delgado; and his brothers, Dario Barrera and Armando Barrera.

Visitation was held Sunday, Nov. 25, at 5 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, officiated by the Rev. Phillip Henning.

Serving as pallbearers were Billy Herrera III, Gilbert Anthony Cruz II, Daniel Herrera, Gilbert Rodriguez, Bernardo Rodriguez, Oscar Hernandez Jr., and Ruben Hernandez.
