FLORESVILLE -- Nov. 19 marked three months since family members of 16-year-old Juanita Marie Jimenez have had any contact with her.

“I know that somebody knows something,” Juanita’s father, Juan, said Nov. 23. “Somebody has to know something.”

Juanita, who lived with her mother, Margaret, in Floresville, was last seen at approximately noon on Aug. 19, police said earlier. That was when Margaret dropped off the teen at the Arcadia Theatre on Third Street in downtown Floresville. From there, Juanita was to spend the night at the home of a friend living in the Highland Oaks Apartments. The report taken Aug. 23 by Patrolman Eric Hutchinson of the Floresville Police Department indicates Juanita never made it to her friend’s house.

Margaret became aware that Juanita never arrived at the planned destination after a situation arose that resulted in a change of plans. She drove to the home to pick up her daughter, who was not there.

Juan alleges that friends have been covering for Juanita, even naming some of the people who might know her whereabouts -- which could span anywhere from Floresville to Austin. He has presented this information to police in Floresville and San Antonio, whom he alleges have not done enough to find Juanita.

Lt. Chad Clark of the Floresville Police Department said Nov. 20 that there have been no new leads in the case, which police are actively investigating.

Clark said earlier that the teen has a history of running away from home. She last ran away in January before being found in February. At that time, Juan said she was in the company of an 18-year-old boy. While Juan considers his daughter to be a good, smart kid, he believes she has fallen in with a bad crowd.

“This has been so draining,” said Juanita’s uncle, Ruben Jimenez. “The first month and a half, we were driving back and forth between Wilson County and San Antonio. We need more help. We need more eyes and ears to make sure she’s OK.”

The Wilson County News and other San Antonio-area media outlets have highlighted Juanita’s case. The most recent was Univision channel 41, which aired a story on its Nov. 23 news broadcast.

While he and his daughter do not reside under the same roof, Juan and Juanita share a special closeness. Not only is Juanita named after her father, but the two share the same birthday. On Dec. 14, she will turn 17. But Juan is hoping that Juanita will return home before then, as the family was forced to spend Thanksgiving without her.

“I don’t know who’s clothing her and feeding her,” Juan said. “When she left, she only had two pairs of jeans and two shirts.”

According to a flyer being distributed by the Heidi Search Center, Juanita was last seen at the Arcadia at 7 p.m. on Aug. 19. She stands 4 feet, 8 inches tall, and weighs 110 pounds. Juanita has black hair with highlights.

When Juanita disappeared, she was wearing black Dickie brand jeans, a red T-shirt, and black open-toed sandals. She was carrying a black purse and wearing a James Avery charm bracelet, a gold necklace with a unicorn, and silver earrings.

Anyone with information about Juanita’s whereabouts is asked to call the Heidi Search Center at 1-800-547-4435 or the Floresville Police Department at 830-393-4055.
