UTSA plans concert series

The UTSA Department of Music will kick off the holiday season with “Winterlude,” a series of concerts Thursday, Nov. 29, through Sunday, Dec. 2, on the UTSA Main Campus at 1 UTSA Circle in San Antonio.

At 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, in the Arts Building Recital Hall, the University Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble will present “Holiday Fantasy,” while on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Convocation Center, the “Spirit of San Antonio Marching Band” will perform compositions from the 2012 Roadrunner football season.

At 7:30 p.m. on Saturday in the Arts Building Recital Hall, the UTSA Orchestra and Women’s Choir will perform Daniel Pinkham’s “Christmas Cantata.” Rachel Harris, San Antonio Symphony harpist, will also accompany the singers on Benjamin Britten’s “Ceremony of Carols.”

The “Winterlude 2012” concert series will conclude at 3 p.m. on Sunday in the Arts Building Recital Hall with a “Messiah” sing-a-long.
