Help Wanted

Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. The East Central FFA had an outstanding day at the Area 7 FFA contest held Nov. 12 in Blanco. East Central took 32 students to compete in nine contests and qualified two teams for the state contest to be held Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at Sam Houston State University. See related article, page 1D.

In Junior Creed Speaking, Kylie Patterson placed first, while the Junior Chapter Conducting team of Johnna Pieniazek, Anjelita Castillo, Yusif Gurrola, Julie Kosub, Madison Lange, Hannah Plate, Randee Terrill, Chloe Villapondo, and Kylie Patterson placed second overall. The first- and second-place finishers will advance to state competition.

The Senior Chapter Conducting team of Erin Crow, Kolton Dieckow, Danny Espinoza, Katelyn Gonzalez, Jordan Hevner, Diamond Mouton-Bell, Sean Mulhollen, and Alexis Wagner placed third in area competition.

Alexis Wagner placed third in the Job Interview competition, while Jordan Hevner placed fifth in Senior Creed Speaking.

The Ag Issues Forum team of Ciarra Gawlik, Emileigh Geistweidt, Stephenie Geistweidt, Shelbi Knox, Paige Kosub, and Cheyenne Zaiontz placed sixth.

The Public Relations team of Megan Van Der Knapp, Lori Mendez, Loryn Noah, and Kearston Pollok placed seventh.

Also competing, but not placing in the top eight, was the Agriculture Advocacy team of Jessica Hawkins, Todd Bettice, Lexie Ricks, and Steven Fanick. Competing in the Radio Broadcasting Event were Lexie Ricks, Megan Van Der Knapp, and Sarah Ledwig.

District competition

Other East Central FFA members competing at the Alamo District contest were:

•Senior Skills -- Anissa Cervera, Morgan Harper, and Gerald Ramzinski, third.

•Junior Skills -- Kevin Anderson, Salvador Guajardo, and David Rennspies, third.

•Junior Skills -- Braydon Jobe, Spencer Foley, and David Rennspies, third.

•Senior Chapter Conducting -- Aaron Maron, Kristen Ayala, Kelsey Mihalski, Ciarra Gawlik, Shelbi Knox, Colin Padalecki, and Dallas Polasek, third.

•Radio Broadcasting Event -- Paige Kosub, Ty Baird, and Cheyenne Zaointz, fourth.

•Senior Quiz -- Emileigh Geistweidt, Kaylee Reed, Stephenie Geistweidt, and Paige Plate, fourth.

•Senior Quiz -- Amy Moran, Matt Alexander, Danny Espinoza, and Ashleigh Coy, fifth.

•Junior Quiz -- Travis Hamilton, Alyssa Denson, Montana Heald, Anjelita Castillo, Hannah Plate, Julie Kosub, and Chloe Villapondo. The two teams placed fifth and sixth.

•Creed Speaking -- Johnna Pieniazek, fourth.

•Job Interview -- Brittany Coble, fifth.
