FLORESVILLE -- Evening rush hour traffic on U.S. 181 here is returning to normal following a two-vehicle crash at approximately 4:30 p.m. today that sent three to the hospital.

According to the preliminary investigation by Patrolman John Muñoz of the Floresville Police Department, a Scion TC driven by 17-year-old Dalton Hawk of Floresville was traveling nouthbound on U.S. 181 near Robin Rest. Hawk allegedly attempted to pass a northbound Mercury Mountaineer driven by 17-year-old Lauren Moon of Pleasanton on the right-hand side. The Scion apparently clipped the Mercury’s front end, Muñoz said, which caused the sport-utility vehicle to roll over through the median and land in the southbound lanes. Hawk lost control of his vehicle, which also came to rest in the outer shoulder of the southbound lanes in front of Johnny’s Paint and Body.

The Wilson County Emergency Medical Servcies transported both drivers, along with Moon’s 16-year-old male passenger -- who was from Poth -- to the Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville.

So that explains all the sirens we kept hearing in Floresville this afternoon. Glad it was not worse.
