Cell phone recycling drive to benefit senior holiday meal

The Stockdale Watermelon Jubilee Alumni Association has partnered with Oklahoma City-based Pace Butler Corp. to conduct a cell phone drive through the end of December. With the Christmas season upon us, the drive gives an opportunity to recycle your old phone in case you receive a new one as a gift, or you just want to upgrade.

The Jubilee Alumni Association will collect used cell phones, which will be recycled. The purchase price received will be used to benefit the senior citizen holiday meal held in the Stockdale community this December, sponsored by the Stockdale Garden Club and the chamber of commerce.

Not only will this drive benefit the holiday meal, but it will also prevent harmful materials from ending up in the landfill.

Four locations throughout the county have cell phone depository boxes:

•Classic Hair Design in Stockdale

•Flieller Insurance in Floresville

•Hair Encounters in La Vernia

•Wiatrek’s Meat Market in Poth.

The association asks that donors make sure phone service is inactive before donating. SIM cards and accessories are unnecessary, but acceptable.

For more information, contact Donna Skloss, Watermelon Jubilee Court and Parent Alumni Association, at 830-391-0226 or email
