What’s better than relishing in the holiday season? Doing it in San Antonio! This year, thousands of holiday lights adorn the River Walk while cultural festivities promise an unforgettable getaway.

•Holiday Arts and Crafts Show -- Friday through Sunday, Dec. 7-9. Located along the River Walk near the Chamber of Commerce, unique holiday shopping will feature local and regional artists, craftsmen, and jewelers offering holiday gift items for everyone on your gift list.

•15th annual Chanukah on the River -- Sunday, Dec. 9. The Arneson River Theatre comes alive for the Jewish Festival of Lights. Chanukah river barge cruises and a concert by nationally acclaimed Jewish rock band, “Describe Nation,” plus Chanukah Hands On, featuring crafts activities, games, and prizes.

•Fiesta de las Luminarias. This centuries-old tradition takes place Friday through Sunday through Dec. 16, with the River Walk lined with 6,000 luminarias to symbolically light the way for the Holy Family.

•Helicopter Holiday Lights Tours -- through Saturday, Dec. 29. Take in the beautiful lights of the holiday season from sky high with Alamo Helicopter Tours as they provide flyovers over the beautiful River Walk lights downtown, plus the University of the Incarnate Word and Trinity University.

•Santa’s Railroad Wonderland at Texas Transportation Museum -- through Saturday, Dec. 29. Every Saturday and Sunday in December, there are nighttime train and hayrides in the decorated 40-acre site from the historic depot to the trains, the garden railroad, and more.
