Wildcat teams to play for state titles

The Floresville Wildcats will be well represented at the 2012 Texas Youth Football Association’s (TYFA) State Championship. Both the Flag (ages 4-6) and the Midget (age 7) teams earned a spot to play in the premier Texas football league’s state title game by handing decisive losses to their opponents this past Sunday, Dec. 2, at Comalander Stadium in San Antonio.

The Flag team, with a record of 7-3 heading into Sunday’s game and carrying the No. 6 seed into the playoff, defeated the No.-1 seeded and previously undefeated Mission Mustangs by a score of 31-6. They will face the undefeated Cy-Creek Cowboys in the final game of the season.

The Midget team, also bringing a record of 8-3 into Sunday’s game and being the No. 8 seed in their playoff division, defeated the No.-2 seeded, also previously undefeated, as well as unscored-upon Mission Mustangs with a final score of 37-0. The Midgets will take on the undefeated Austin Steelers for the state title.

The Wildcat teams will play Sunday, Dec. 9, at Manor Mustang Stadium, located at 14900 N. FM 973 in Manor. The Midgets will play at 9 a.m., followed by the Flag team at 11 a.m.

The Wildcats organization invites all members of the community to go out and support these amazing boys in their quest for the ultimate prize -- a state championship. Go Wildcats!

Both playoff games have been scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 9, at Manor Mustang Stadium, located at 14900 N. FM 973 in Manor. The Midgets will play at 9 a.m., followed by the Flag team at 11 a.m. GO WILDCATS!!
