Delbert S. Popham went to be with the Lord Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, in Floresville, Texas, at the age of 72 years, 7 months, and 7 days. He was born April 30, 1940, in McCoy, the son of Sterling Price and Fannie Mann Popham. He was a resident of Floresville.

Delbert loved living in the country and being in the outdoors. He enjoyed animals and always had them around him on the place. He loved to play Yahtzee, 42 dominos, and the Wii bowling game. He always planted a garden with plenty of vegetables and was very willing to give you a jar of his special hot sauce. He loved to kid and joke around and liked to tell stories. Delbert drove trucks for several years.

He loved his family and gospel music. He made a profession of faith and was baptized at River Oaks Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, where he was a member. He attended Floresville High School in Floresville and was a giving person.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Darlene Gilbert.

Delbert is survived by his sisters, Georgia Jones and husband Charlie of Granite Shoals, Joyce Johnson and husband Harley of Fischer, and Carolyn Sulacia and husband John of Canyon; his brother, Henry A. Popham and wife Judy of Burnet; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A small family gathering was held Saturday, Dec. 8, in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Dec. 16, at 3 p.m. in the River Oaks Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society of Texas, ASC CAN, P.O. Box 720295, Oklahoma City, OK 73172.
