CMMC makes cancer donation
Erin Ercoline, executive director of the ThriveWell Cancer Foundation in San Antonio (second from right), is presented with a donation from Connally Memorial Medical Center representatives (from left) Sue Tackitt, quality director; Amanda Sralla, director of emergency services; Celeste Brizzee, chief nursing officer; and Irene Henry, director of Med/Surg/ICU.
During the month of October, Connally Memorial Medical Center celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness Month by offering discounted mammograms, having a Lunch and Learn to discuss breast cancer awareness and prevention, and making a donation to a local cancer support group.
The hospital ordered 100 T-shirts with “Together We Make a Difference” printed in pink. Employees wore pink on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday along with their T-shirts during the whole month of October. For each T-shirt given, employees were asked to make a $10 donation to ThriveWell Cancer Foundation. The total amount of the donation made was $1,133, which will be devoted 100 percent to Wilson County patients to help in their struggle with cancer.
ThriveWell Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit whose mission is dedicated to finding a cure for cancer by funding cancer research, providing patient support, and offering programs to improve the quality of life for patients and their families, per their website.
