WACO -- The Texas Farm Bureau has honored Terry Reagan, publisher of the Ranchers Exchange, with its 2012 Excellence in Agricultural Journalism award for outstanding coverage of Texas farm and ranch issues. Reagan received the award during the Texas Farm Bureau’s 79th annual meeting Dec. 2 in Waco. Ranchers Exchange serves rural communities surrounding the San Antonio metro area.

The Wilson County Farm Bureau board of directors nominated Reagan for the award in the agricultural journalism category.

“Mr. Reagan makes it the very objective of his publication to provide cattlemen and landowners with current information regarding livestock and land ownership concerns,” Wilson County Farm Bureau stated in the nomination. “He realizes that the industry is always changing and, therefore, provides a source of concise information to help producers meet the challenges of an ever-changing market and of preserving their land and heritage.”

The nominating county also noted Reagan’s commitment to covering agriculture education and supporting local youth by highlighting local FFA and 4-H activities.

“We feel that Terry Reagan is truly deserving of this award due to the effort put forth in his publication and the fact that it is enjoyed by agricultural and urban readers throughout South Texas,” Wilson County Farm Bureau said.
