Great question Eric, but as we all know the Kernel won't answer. If this doesn't show the current council and folks in Floresville that this guy has done absolutely nothing in the last few years he has been responsible for running this board, then nothing will. Why pay this guy all that money to do absolutely nothing? This guy has ripped off this city long enough. Time to take out the trash

Does the FEDC really need to hire someone and pay them? I saw the meeting and was pleased to see that first they actually had a meeting and already are beginning to address things such as the amending things in the charter that will help avoid problems later down the line. Seems like these folks have some experience but more importantly as was noted in the meeting, this new council will hold them to produce and will not just sit back and allow them not to meet regularly or to just show presence and not results. I beleive these new members have thier hands full, but after watching the video, they all (except for Perez), seem extremly knowledgeable and very willing to figure out the right choices for the city. I wish them all the luck

Hate to break it to you, but FEDC had nothing to do w/ locating a "mom and pop" antique store here! All they did was take credit for it. Not sure of any other businesses, but they did make a mess of the Rancho de las Cabras Industrial Park. don't know if they ever got that straightened out!

For him to reply " I serve at your pleasure", tells me 2 things about this bafoon. 1. He is incompetent as to what his duties are and 2. He is arrogant and is trying to toy with Mr Tieken. This guy just needs to go. He claims to be retired military office so he gets a retirement check and we are paying him in excess of 60k a year for what? I have been here 4 years and all I have seen is a mom and pops antique store, a pizza place and another mexican restaurant. Mayor and council members,, save the city the expenses of this clown. I see him daily driving a city vehicle to eat breakfast with his compadres and have overheard him talking about our elected officials. This guys doesnt even live here. I wonder if he drives that city vehicle home daily to San Antonio? I have seen a city vehicle at the city managers home. Is it too much for both these guys to pay thier own way for gas? Does the city tax dollars have to pay for that as well? I would think that if Perez doesnt have a job description, then how many more of the city employees dont have one? Isnt that a responsibility of the city manager? What is gives here? I know the council and Mayor will take appropriate actions, its only a matter of time before all these overpaid city employess are held liable and responsible.

I wouldn't even give him a chance. If there is no contract and no job description, he should be out! He has sucked the city dry long enough. For how long has he been saying there is a Chili's coming? Where is it? Every time you ask him what new businesses are coming, his reply is he cannot discuss that, they are under negotiations. And he has to hire someone to write checks for him? He was asked how many checks have to be written and his answer was 5 or 6? And he can't write those? It is time for him to go, especially if he has no contract. Cut and dry, have him pack his bags!!

I would put him on a one year probation with expectations and if he cannot meet them (as a FEDC Director) then out he goes! Poth FEDC does not have a "hired hand" they do everything by their board. Why can't we? He has been in office how long and has what accomplishments under his belt that benefit the city and not him?
