A number of area students are among more than 600 graduates of Texas A&M-Kingsville, following winter commencement exercises held Dec. 14 in Kingsville.

The keynote speaker for both ceremonies was Dr. Frank A. Ashley III, vice chancellor of recruitment and diversity for the Texas A&M University System.

Area students being recognized for their academic achievements are as follows:

Falls City -- Christina Renee Zunker, Bachelor of Science

Karnes City -- Brian Uriegas, Doctor of Education

La Vernia -- Mayra Alejandra Nieto, Master of Science

Stockdale -- Chester Martin Burrier III, Bachelor of Science.
