Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. 1933-2012

Lucy V. Delgado, a lifelong resident of Floresville, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, in Floresville at the age of 79 years, 2 months, and 17 days. She went to be with the Lord peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Oct. 9, 1933, in Floresville to Anatolio and Incarnation Vela.

Lucy was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and one sister.

Lucy is survived by her husband, Jesse P. Delgado of Floresville; children Sylvia V. Herrera, Mary Esther Alejandre and husband Joaquin, and Jesse Delgado, all of Floresville, Jessica Balcar and husband Jimmy of Adkins, and Jesse Escobar and wife Sylvia of El Campo; one sister; three brothers; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, Dec. 28, at 5 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville with the Rev. Phil Henning officiating.

Inurnment will follow at a later date.

Serving as pallbearers were Anthony Herrera, Andy Quintanilla III, Jonathan Quintanilla, Joe Robert Delgado, Jimmy Balcar, and Joaquin Alejandre.

Honorary pallbearers were Logan Balcar, Nathan Esquivel, John Christian Esquivel, Daniel Flores, and Jason Serna.
