1925-2012

Mary Moczygemba Moy went to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at the age of 87. She was born on Aug. 28, 1925, in Cestohowa, Texas, the daughter of Anton and Mary Smolka Moczygemba.

Mary grew up and went to school in the Pulaski community. She married Leonard Moy on June 21, 1949. They were original residents of Deweesville and moved to the Hobson community in 1955, where they raised their five children. Mary was a devoted member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters, the Altar Society, and KJZT. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. As a homemaker, she loved to sew, cook, and bake, which meant she always had treats for visitors. Mary loved to quilt, making quilts for all of her children and grandchildren. She was an avid domino, bunco, and bingo player.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Rosie Pruski and Benigna Kotzur; and brother Isadore Moczygemba.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Leonard Moy; daughters Diane Pape and husband Carlton and Adelene Manka and husband Mike; sons Edwin Moy and wife Agnes, Leroy Moy and wife Debbie, and Leonard Moy Jr. and wife Melissa; grandchildren Carl Pape and wife Deanne, Aaron Pape and wife Kristi, Kristen Pape, Wesley Manka, Stephanie Manka, Lindsay Griffith and husband James, Kayci MacLauchlin and husband Malcolm, Tara Moy, and Amber Moy; great-grandchildren Cabryn Pape, Delaney Pape, Hayden Pape, Marissa MacLauchlin, and Brianna MacLauchlin.

A rosary was held on Thursday, Dec. 27, at 7 p.m. in the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hobson.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. in the church.

Interment followed in the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Falls City.

Serving as pallbearers were Mary’s grandsons, Carl Pape, Aaron Pape, and Wesley Manka; and nephews Zygmund Pruski, David Pruski, Marvin Pruski, Emerick Moczygemba, and Lambert Moczygemba.
