1943-2012

Margaret Jauer Borchers passed away on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at the age of 69. She was born in Floresville, Texas, on Feb. 17, 1943, to Harry and Mary Bordovsky Jauer.

Margaret was baptized on June 1, 1943, in St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hobson, and was confirmed there on Dec. 8, 1955. She was raised in Hobson and graduated from Falls City High School, where she played trombone in the band. After high school, she moved to San Antonio where she attended San Antonio College. In San Antonio she worked at Joske’s and then at Cudahy Foods. While working at Cudahy Foods, she met Ron Borchers. They fell in love and were married on Aug. 12, 1967, in St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in San Antonio.

In 1978, Margaret and Ron and their family moved to Fredericksburg. She and Ron were very active in Scouting and helped re-establish Pack 136 at Bethany Lutheran Church. At Bethany, Margaret was a member of the Praise Team, helped with meals at funerals, and served on the Worship Committee. She loved working with young people. She served Bethany as a Vacation Bible School teacher, also helping with refreshments. In addition to Scouting activities, she frequently served as a substitute teacher. Margaret was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Ron Borchers of Fredericksburg; a son, Jarret Borchers of Fredericksburg; a daughter, Stephanie Gall and husband Richard of Lewisville; two grandchildren, Ross Gall and Margaret Jean “Meg” Gall; brothers Bill Jauer, Pete Jauer, and John Jauer; and sisters Betty Ann Pawelek, Mary Frances Raabe, Anita Raabe, Janie Cotter, Irene Speed, Mary Ann Turner, Patty Gueldner, Gina Hillock, Micky Atkinson, Becky Quiroz, Barbara Pittmann, Ruthie Matocha, and Dorothy Hernandez.

Memorials may be made to the Bethany Lutheran Church Building Fund, 110 W. Austin St., Fredericksburg, TX 78624, or to a charity of one’s choice.
