Alfred ‘Bob’ Rahe
Alfred “Bob” Rahe, a longtime resident of Falls City, Texas, entered eternal rest Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at 11:55 a.m. in the Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville at the age of 96 years, 1 month, and 29 days.
Bob was born Oct. 26, 1916, in Marion, the son of Anna Fritz and Herman Rahe Sr. Bob married Lillian Marie Zaiontz on Nov. 13, 1939, in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City. Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, and worked as an equipment operator for many years.
Lillian Marie Zaiontz Rahe, Bob’s beloved wife of more than 71 years, preceded him in death on Dec. 24, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his son, Alfred Joseph Rahe; and his siblings, Herman Rahe Jr., Bernice Evans, and Hildegard Venton.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Susan Sikes and husband Darral; his grandchildren, Arlene Rahe, Mary Rahe Holland, Karen Rakowitz Gulick, Rocky Rakowitz, and Elaine Sikes; his great-grandchildren, Curtis Jackson, Samantha Sigler, Justin Rahe, Holly Holland, and Luke, Cole Bob, and Cade Gulick; his great-great-grandchildren, Samuel Eckols and Caleigh Jackson; and his sister, Irmgard Muenchow.
Visitation was held Thursday, Dec. 27, in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in the church, with the Rev. Gregory Sawicki officiating.
Interment followed in the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Falls City.
Serving as pallbearers were Darral Sikes, Gerald Zaiontz, Howard Holland, Justin Rahe, Luke Gulick, and Cruz Ruiz.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Cole Bob Gulick and Cade Gulick.
