1907-2013

Lillie Schneider Warnken went to be with her Lord at the age of 105 on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013. Lillie was born in Three Oaks, Texas, on Sept. 28, 1907, to Edward and Mary Schneider.

The family moved to Poth in 1921. She married Victor Warnken on Oct. 3, 1927. Lillie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. She was very active in the Lutheran church, where she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for more than 25 years. Lillie was a member of Hermann Sons, St. John’s Ladies Aid, the Poth Bridge Club, and the Women of the Church. She always said, “I enjoyed every minute of the church work.” Lillie did office work after she finished high school. First she worked for her father at Texaco Oil Co., then for A.D. Warnken & Sons Oil Mill and Cotton Gin. After she married Victor, she kept books for Warnken Motors and Pearl Beer Distribution Co. until they retired in 1970. Lillie will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She was a loving and kind person who was always willing to give a helping hand, said her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Victor F. Warnken; and sisters Edna McCarty and Marie Ziegler Glenewinkle.

Lillie is survived by her daughter, Connie Kollodziej and husband Al; grandchildren Landry Kollodziej and Dawn Kerby and husband Ephraim; and great-grandchildren Brock and Claire Kerby.

Visitation was held on Thursday, Jan. 3, at 5 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. in the St. John Lutheran Church in Poth.

A funeral service was held on Friday at 3 p.m. in the church, officiated by the Rev. Kelly Tankersley.

Entombment followed in the Blessed Sacrament Mausoleum in Poth.
