Maribelle (Reynolds) Dlugosh
God has received another angel. Our Mom and Memaw, Maribelle (Reynolds) Dlugosh was welcomed into her heavenly home on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at the age of 88. Maribelle was born Oct. 20, 1924, in Bells, Texas, to Claude and Safronia (Houston) Reynolds, the seventh of nine children.
After moving to San Antonio, she met Ernest Joseph Dlugosh Sr. at a rooftop dance at the downtown Hermann Sons lodge. They married on April 28, 1956, in Seguin, and began their married life living in southeast San Antonio. God blessed them with three children, Brenda Marie, Elaine Joan, and Ernest Joseph Jr. In 1962, they moved to the Dellcrest area and became members of the St. Benedict Catholic Church. Throughout their marriage, they enjoyed listening to and dancing to country music. Maribelle and Ernie celebrated 20 years together before his death on July 9, 1976. We’re sure they are already on the dance floor once again. Maribelle will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and Memaw. Mom, all of us are who we are today because of your great love and devotion. We love you forever and know that you will continue to watch over all of us like you always did, said her family.
We take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved Ernie; her parents; brothers Cecil and Floyd Reynolds; and sisters Ethel Rodgers, Mabel McCarter, Jessie Mae Guthrie, Doris Cunningham, and Floyce Hansen, in the presence of Jesus Christ.
Maribelle is survived by her children, Brenda and Tony Franckowiak, Elaine and Arnold Walla, and Ernest “EJ” and Karen Dlugosh; grandchildren Meagan Dlugosh, Travis Walla, Colin Dlugosh, Katie Walla, and Kelsey Walla; sister Willie Bow; and numerous nieces and nephews who affectionately called her Aunt Dip.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, Jan. 2, from 5-9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the St. Benedict Catholic Church in San Antonio.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the church.
Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Floresville.
