1929-2012

Barbara Thoren Witten, beloved wife, mother, friend, and “Mimi” went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at the age of 83. She is beginning her New Year in heaven. Barbara was born on Aug. 10, 1929, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Fenella Rasmussen and Magnus Thoren.

She graduated from South High School and attended the University of Utah. She worked several years as the head teller at Citizens Frost Bank and as administrator for State Farm Insurance. Barbara was married to the love of her life, Jerry, for 56 years. She enjoyed their retirement home on the Guadalupe River in Seguin, and her main mission in life was propelling her children and grandchildren forward into wonderful lives of their own. Barbara valiantly battled kidney disease for several years and never gave up.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her parents; and siblings Bruce, Walter, and Joan Thoren.

She is survived by her daughter, Carla Green and husband Allen of La Vernia; son Jeff Witten and wife Pam of San Antonio; stepsons Rick Witten and wife Sharon of Cleveland and Lee Witten; grandkids Caitlin, Carly, and Jordan Green, Whitney and Warrin Witten, Terry Olson, and Jesse Witten; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held on Sunday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m. in the Tres Hewell Mortuary in Seguin, Texas.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Boulevard, Ste. 1010, Rockville, MD 20852-3914.
