Rosie Suchy Fischer
Rosie Suchy Fischer, a longtime resident of the Three Oaks community, and later, Poth, Texas, entered eternal rest Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at 10:55 p.m. in the Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville, at the age of 88 years, 6 months, and 12 days. Rosie was born June 19, 1924, in Wisconsin, the daughter of Charlie and Albina Hosek Suchy.
She attended Three Oaks schools and was a homemaker. Rosie married Emil Fischer on Oct. 7, 1940. Emil, Rosie’s beloved husband of more than 46 years, preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 1987. Rosie was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth, where she served on the Altar Society.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emil Fischer; and her brother, Johnnie Suchy.
Rosie is survived by her loving son, Johnny Fischer and wife Sally of Falls City; her grandchildren, Karen Betancourt and husband Richard of Brownsville and Cheryl Gimbel of San Antonio; and her great-grandchildren, Rhyen Betancourt, Steven Betancourt, and Emily Gimbel.
Visitation was held on Thursday, Jan. 3, at 5 p.m., with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Poth.
A funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth, officiated by the Rev. Grzegorz Szewczyk, S.D.S.
Interment followed in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery in Poth.
Serving as pallbearers were Harvey Suchy, Norbert Skloss, Gerald Brown, Bruno Keller, Rhyen Betancourt, and John Hosek.
