Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. 1926-2012

Rosa Montalvo Romero passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, in Floresville, Texas, at the age of 86 years and 3 days. Rosa was born Dec. 26, 1926, in Adkins to Francisco and Carolina Montalvo. She was a former resident of San Antonio and a resident of Sutherland Springs for 22 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, one granddaughter, and one grandson.

Rosa is survived by her husband, Augustine Romero Sr. of Sutherland Springs; her daughter, Maria M. Romero of San Antonio; her sons, Augustine Romero Jr. of Sutherland Springs, Henry Romero of San Antonio, Robert Romero of Sutherland Springs, and John Romero of Floresville; and her sisters, Amalia Dominguez of San Antonio and Alicia Guerrero of Adkins. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Jan. 1, at 2 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville with the Rev. Phil Henning officiating.

Interment followed in the Sutherland Springs Cemetery in Sutherland Springs.

Serving as pallbearers were Juan Romero Jr., Andrew Diaz-DeLeon, David Garza, Daniel Garza, Steven Diaz, Michael Romero, Rudy Gres III, Jacob Romero, and Robert Romero.
