Eagle Ford: Falls City reviews sewer rates
By WCN Staff
FALLS CITY -- The city council here, at its Jan. 9 meeting, voted to take a three-month average of wastewater discharge as a means of determining the city’s sewage rate structure.
Mayor Brent Houdmann said after the meeting that this averaging occurs on an annual basis. This year, he said, December 2012 and January and February 2013 will be used in this determination process.
Also during the meeting, the council met in closed session to discuss the 90-day evaluation of public works employee Albert Martinez.
“We have been very pleased with Mr. Martinez’s work,” Houdmann said. “He has shown a very good understanding of our water and wastewater treatment plants, and has become a valuable asset to the city.”
In other business, the council voted to hold a citywide cleanup April 13-21. Participation is open only to residents living within the city limits, who are asked to provide copies of their utility bills as identification. Houdmann said citizens will be allowed to dump large, bulky items that would normally not be picked up by the normal trash collection. Hazardous items, such as paint, old batteries, and pesticides, will not be accepted.
