FLORESVILLE -- A pair of alleged burglars are recovering from injuries sustained in a crash that occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. Jan. 15, as the two were attempting to outrun officers from the Floresville Police Department.

Dallas Warren Crisp, 29, of Pleasanton is undergoing treatment in Downtown Methodist Hospital in San Antonio for a fractured vertebra, said Sgt. Devin Keen of the Floresville Police Department. Arrest warrants will be issued, which charge Crisp with two counts of burglary of a vehicle, burglary of a habitation, evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, and failure to identify. Keen said that Crisp was not being detained during treatment, because this would have left the city of Floresville paying for his care.

Arrested and transported to the Wilson County Jail after being treated in the Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville was Crisp’s passenger, 19-year-old Roxie Jean Talarico of Pleasanton. She is charged with two counts of burglary of a vehicle, burglary of a habitation, and failure to identify. Jail records indicate that her total bond is $42,000.

Keen said that the duo allegedly broke into a Dodge Ram pickup truck that was parked outside the Floresville High School gymnasium, from which they stole keys, an identification card, and other items. The sergeant said the two then drove to the owner’s house on Fifth Street, where they broke into a vehicle and into his house.

When the truck owner’s mother drove to the home on Fifth Street to retrieve an extra set of keys for the vehicle, she discovered Crisp and Talarico, who fled down Fifth Street. The woman then called police.

Patrolman Billy Herrera spotted the pair near the intersection of Third and E streets and gave chase, pursuing the Mitsubishi Lancer until following them onto U.S. 181. Keen joined the chase as they proceeded northbound on U.S. 181 toward Standish Street, until Crisp lost control of the Mitsubishi, causing it to roll over twice as he was ejected through its windshield. The sedan came to rest on its driver’s side, in front of the former Floresville Independent School District administration building.

After the vehicle was righted, Keen, Herrera, and Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol Trooper Brittani Weimer pored over the cluttered vehicle to find items such as identification cards, paychecks, laptop computers, cellular telephones, and credit cards belonging to people from at least three different counties. Keen said officers are working to reunite these items with their rightful owners. Anyone with information should call the Floresville Police Department at 830-393-4055 or Crime Stoppers of Wilson County at 830-393-INFO (4636).

Keen also said additional charges are pending against Crisp and Talarico, following the Jan. 17 discovery of a .40 caliber Glock handgun that the two allegedly discarded on Second Street during the pursuit.
