Help Wanted

CASA VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR, FULL-TIME POSITION. Provides professional staff support to CASA volunteers to ensure that abused children’s best interests are represented in court. Social services experience required.  Responsible for assisting with recruiting and initial training of advocates, and coordinating cases in Wilson County and Karnes County with Atascosa County (home office). Must demonstrate written and presentation communication skills. Must be available to work intermittent evenings/weekends with some travel.  Must have personal car, current TDL, and auto liability insurance. Elmer L. “Junior” Collins Jr., 70, of Nixon, Texas, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, in Seguin. He was born April 4, 1942, in San Antonio to Susie (Wicke) and Elmer L. Collins Sr.

He honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.

Junior was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Samantha Collins; two sisters, Margaret Johnson and Bettie Ruth Cooksey; and his brother, Morris “Sonny” Collins.

He is survived by his wife since July 19, 1968, Linda (York) Collins; two daughters, Susan Collins and Sherry Collins; four grandchildren, Kirstin Martinez, Dylan Lopez, Makayla Hidalgo, and Logan Cisneros; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, Jan. 18, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon.

A graveside funeral service was held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Nixon Cemetery in Nixon, with the Rev. Michael Cowey officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 7400 Louis Pasteur, San Antonio, TX 78229.
