Help Wanted

The 81st Judicial District Attorney’s office, which includes Frio, La Salle, Atascosa, Karnes and Wilson Counties, is accepting resumes for an Assistant District Attorney position. The selected candidate will manage a specialized caseload with a focus on criminal enterprise, human trafficking/human smuggling and other cases as needed. Responsibilities of the position include working closely with Federal, State and Local law enforcement agencies, felony intake, preparation of cases for grand jury, negotiating pleas, and representation of the State of Texas in pretrial proceedings, as well as in criminal bench trials and jury trials in District Court. All applicants must be a graduate of an accredited law school and licensed to practice law by the State of Texas and have a minimum of five (5) years prosecutorial experience with felony cases and extensive trial experience. Salary commensurate with experience. Resumes will be accepted through the close of business October 19, 2015. Ida Eve Parker, 83, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013. She was born on Dec. 26, 1929, in St. Hedwig to Edwin “Boogie” Friederick and Julia Lattka.

Ida was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Richard Parker; son Mitchell Parker; and daughter Paula Bell.

She is survived by her son, Wayne Parker and wife Joanne of Duncanville; son-in-law Jimmie Bell of Sutherland Springs; grandchildren Jason Vacek and wife Sheila and Courtney Kalinoski and husband Jeff, all of San Antonio, and Stacy Parker-Brown and husband Brian and Garrett Parker, all of Duncanville; great-granchildren Gavin Kalinoski of San Antonio and Parker Brianne Brown of Duncanville; brothers Harold Friederick and wife Sudie of La Vernia and Ferdinand “Freddy” Friederick and wife Joyce of New Berlin; sisters Margie Markgraf-O’Rear and husband Richard of La Vernia and Mary Wahl and husband Bobby of Floresville; and many other loving family and friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Jan. 16, from 6-9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral Mass was held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the St. Benedict Catholic Church in San Antonio with the Rev. Eddie Bernal officiating.

Interment followed in St. Ann’s Cemetery in La Vernia.

Memorial contributions may be made by way of Masses.
