FLORESVILLE -- Hundreds of fireworks detonated today as firefighters from several local departments battled a blaze at a fireworks warehouse north of Floresville. Sheriff Joe D. Tackitt Jr. said officials believe a resident in the area was either barbecuing or burning on his property when the fire escaped containment and ignited a grassfire.

From there, the fire spread across U.S. 181 Business and ignited fireworks in the warehouse. The resident's entry gate was locked; he could not be reached for comment. Officials are continuing their investigation.
