FLORESVILLE -- Hundreds of fireworks detonated today as firefighters from several local departments battled a blaze at a fireworks warehouse north of Floresville. Sheriff Joe D. Tackitt Jr. said officials believe a resident in the area was either barbecuing or burning on his property when the fire escaped containment and ignited a grassfire.

From there, the fire spread across U.S. 181 Business and ignited fireworks in the warehouse. The resident's entry gate was locked; he could not be reached for comment. Officials are continuing their investigation.

Be careful, folks. This dry weather can be very dangerous. Thankfully, no one was hurt in this one, and thanks to all the volunteers and deputies who responded to the emergency scene.
