Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Ismael Perez, a lifelong resident of Floresville, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Ismael was born on Aug. 28, 1934, the son of Pablo and Belen Sanchez Perez.

He lived his life to the fullest. He loved hunting, fishing, barbecuing, and dancing.

Ismael was preceded in death by his parents; brother Pablo Perez III; sisters Sulema and Aurora Perez; great-grandchildren Gabriel Perez and Nathaniel Garcia; and father-in-law Inocencio Rios Jr.

He is survived by his beloved wife of more than 55 years, Gloria Rios Perez; his children, Irma Castoreno and Joe, Ismael Perez Jr., Margaret Perez and Balde, and Lillian Herrera and husband Jose Baldemar, all of Floresville; grandchildren Abel Perez and wife Teresa, Mario Castoreno II and wife Catherine, Joseph Delgado and wife Olga, Rachel Garcia and husband Pauly, Ismael Perez III, David Perez, Celestino “C.J.” Gonzales IV, Jose Herrera and wife Jeanette, Gloria Marie Herrera and husband Jimmy Servantes, and Felicia Herrera; great-grandchildren Gabby and Ryann Perez, Mario, Nina, Mark, Ariel, and Hannah Castoreno, Krystin Nicole and Mikal Delgado, Desi Heinish and Giovanni Garcia, Marissa Perez, Jaylah and Jade Olivia Herrera, and Alizah, Aubry, and Brandon Servantes; sisters Beatrice Perez, Vicky Montoya, and Maria Barrientes and husband Jose; and brothers Antonio Perez and wife Antonia, Fidel Perez and wife Carmen, and Juan Jose Perez and wife Bertha.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 5 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville with the Rev. Phil Henning officiating.

Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were his grandchildren, Abel Perez, Mario Castoreno II, Joseph Delgado, Ismael Perez III, David Perez, Celestino Gonzales IV, Jose Herrera, Rene Perez, and Mario Castoreno.
