FISD gets positive audit report
FLORESVILLE -- The general fund for the Floresville Independent School District (ISD) continues to grow at a healthy pace, and the district has close to $2 million in unassigned funds available for operations.
Members of the Floresville Independent School District (ISD) board of trustees heard this news during a Jan. 21 special called meeting. The trustees met with representatives from Padgett, Stratemann and Co. to discuss the findings of the district’s fiscal year 2011-12 audit.
One of the largest increases for the fund balance came in the form of the net revenue from the sale of the old primary campus, which brought in $1,068,605.
“We had that amount come in and next year we will have close to another million from the sale of the old administration building,” said Dr. Jerry Lee Hunkapiller, Floresville ISD superintendent.
The amount expected from the sale of the former administration building on U.S. 181 (10th Street) across from H-E-B is $992,981.
Overall, the total revenues for the district went up 3.5 percent and overall expenses dropped 5.6 percent, the auditors said.
The $2 million in unassigned revenue is enough to fund the district’s operations for one month.
“We are not quite where we need to be with a fund balance, but we are on our way,” Hunkapillar said.
The audit representatives recommended the district should have three months of operational revenue in its fund balance.
