Letter: U.S. Congress lacks pro-Americans
Over the past several weeks I have seen two letters in the Wilson County News, written by people totally devoid of the primary reason why the Second Amendment was installed in the Bill of Rights.
Let’s be clear from the start.
The simple fact that you are a human being, created by nature, God, whatchamacallit, or whatever you prefer to call your creator, you have a right to defend yourself with the most effective means at hand.
Mr. Tracy Bogert says he thinks all we need today is a single-shot musket and Mr. Leroy Haverlah Jr. of the Peoples Republic of Austin thinks all he needs is a dinky single-shot .22 rifle.
Remember, you have a right to defend yourself. If your attacker is a deranged human, a wild animal, or a despotic government, and has a .50-caliber machine gun, you probably need a .50-caliber machine gun also, not a 1770s single-shot musket. How utterly stupid is that?
Think for a minute now, Obama has issued his umpteenth executive order (bypassing the people’s representatives, otherwise known as Congress), but this order is much more ominous. It is to disarm the American citizenry ... totally unconstitutional and should fly in the face of every free-thinking American. Do you think Obama might have dictatorship on his mind?
For a change, you liberal-leaning people might want to think about this for a while instead of letting your brains fly into reactionary mode. Now Obama is arming and indoctrinating to the hilt his young brown shirts organization for the supposed purpose of protecting the homeland. We already have someone to protect our homeland ... it’s called the United States Armed Forces. Maybe Obama didn’t trust the armed forces to be totally loyal to him, so he sought to create an organization of young, impressionable minds that he could easily influence.
I don’t know, but I know I don’t like it. In the formative years of this country, we were blessed to have men such as Washington, Adams, Madison, Franklin, Jefferson, and so on, who were not only highly intelligent and wise, but they were also were very pro-America.
Pro-America. This is something sorely missing in the current inhabitants of our nation’s Capitol.
I also know that the concept of an unarmed citizenry is just as stupid today as it was in 1776.
