Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. 1935-2013

Harry Lee Reynolds, 77, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013. He was born on Feb. 8, 1935, in Alice, Texas, to Jim and Manuela Reynolds.

Harry started his professional career as an elementary teacher in the Brownsville and Alice school districts. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in education from Texas A&I University in Kingsville and received his Master of Science in elementary education administration from the University of North Dakota. After retirement in 1993, he received his bilingual certification and returned to teaching in the Dallas and Floresville public schools as a bilingual elementary teacher and instructor supervisor for adult basic education classes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Arnold Harry Reynolds; brothers Oscar, Jim II, and Robert; and sisters Maria Romero and Dora Lerma.

Harry is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Amelia Figueroa Reynolds; daughter Nora Hessenflow and husband Jeffrey of Leavenworth, Kan.; sons Adrian Lee of Bartlett, Tenn., and Marc Octavio and wife Wendy of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren Matthew Hessenflow and wife Rita of Olathe, Kan., Alyson Reynolds Hessenflow of Overland Park, Kan., Winter Reynolds, Nathan Reynolds, and Devin Reynolds, all of Bartlett, and Mallory Reynolds and Mason Reynolds, both of Arlington; sisters Rachel Pena and husband David of Alice, and Maria Jackson and husband Ralph of Winchester, Tenn.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 10 a.m. with a rosary recited at noon in the St. Benedict Church in San Antonio.

A funeral Mass followed in the church.

Interment with full military honors immediately followed in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
