Offer condolences


Chester J. Jendrusch went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at the age of 83 years, 5 months, and 4 days after a long illness. He was born on Aug. 20, 1929, to John and Tesia Jendrusch in Cestohowa, Texas.

Chester was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard for five years, followed by a sales career, which he enjoyed for more than 50 years until he retired in 2002. He was an active member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church for 48 years and showed his devotion to our Blessed Mother Mary by praying the rosary daily. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 4315 and a lifetime member of Highlands and Martinez Social Clubs. His hobbies were fishing, barbecuing, gardening, and sports (especially baseball), and he enjoyed bowling, trips to Coushatta, and traveling with his loving wife and spending time with family and friends.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Father Eddie Bernal, Amedisys Hospice and Home Health, and Helping Our Seniors for all their care and compassion.

Chester was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Irene; his twin brother, Edmond, and his brother, Marvin Jendrusch.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Agnes; daughters Laura Jendrusch (Luedecke), Elaine Krueger and husband Jimmy, and Janice Lubel and husband Dickie; sons Gregory Jendrusch and wife Cindy, and Michael Jendrusch and wife Mitzi; grandchildren Jeffrey Luedecke, Michelle Luedecke, Kimberly Luedecke Morrow and husband James, Shannon Krueger Hebert and husband Carson, Valerie Krueger, Jaclyn Jarzombek Ruli and husband Joseph, Julie Jarzombek, Jake Jarzombek, Matthew Jendrusch and wife Theresa, Zachary Jendrusch, Meghan Jendrusch Akin and husband Blaine, Marla Jendrusch, Lance Lubel, Ginny Miller and husband Josh, Zachary Riser, and Zeke Riser; great-grandchildren Tatum, Connor, Kendall, Gisele, Caroline, John Thomas, Madeleine, Clare, Jacob, James, Joseph, and Azlynn; brothers Fabian, Lucian, and Ernest Jendrusch; sisters Gladys Waclawczyk, Catherine Hildebrand, and Lillian Kotzur; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation was held on Monday, Jan. 28, at 5 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the St. Benedict Catholic Church in San Antonio.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the church.

Interment followed in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Yorktown.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Benedict’s Building Fund, 4535 Lord Road, San Antonio, TX 78220.
