Q: How are the hours now that you’re starring in a double role on a show?

A: By the time Saturday comes around, I am surviving solely on espresso. Dear Starbucks, thank you for getting me through the week.

Q: What is it like having Phylicia Rashad playing your boss?

A: Growing up, we watched ‘The Cosby Show’ every Thursday night. It was must-see TV. This (show) is prime real estate.

Q: How do you describe the show and your two characters?

A: As a medical thriller, there is nothing supernatural happening. They are violently different. Ian is a drug addict, sex addict, a sexual predator, violent, a... . Jason has been sedating himself for five years. He is a superstar surgeon, and Dr. Young (Rashad) thinks he has severe diabetes and at night it acts up.

Q: How are you doing with the complicated medical jargon and the mock surgery scenes?

A: I think I could actually do surgery on your brain right now.

Q: Let’s not. These look like physically demanding roles. Are they?

A: We’re making 13 episodes, and I think more would kill me. Every day I am running, screaming, in surgery, beating up a guy, getting beaten up. The sex scenes are exhausting.

Q: How do you differentiate this from Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde?

A: It is the contemporary Jekyll and Hyde, a sexy idea out of the gate. We didn’t want to do the classic Jekyll and Hyde.
