Ellene Burns Johnson, 96, of Sutherland Springs, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013. She was born on June 15, 1916, in Carrizo Springs, Texas, to Alma Pearl (McMullen) and Christopher Columbus Burns Jr.

Ellene was preceded in death by her parents; husband E.L. Johnson; son Allen B. Johnson; and sisters Naomi Dixon and Mary Wiley.

She is survived by her sons, Harley L. Johnson and wife Joyce of Fischer and Mark A. Johnson and wife Lou of La Vernia; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; sister Bonnie Goodlick of Copperas Cove; numerous nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.

Visitation was held on Saturday, Feb. 16, from 6-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Stockdale.

A funeral service was held on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the River Oaks Church in Sutherland Springs with Christopher Johnson officiating.

Interment followed in the Floresville City Cemetery in Floresville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Jubilee World Missions, 1100 Bluff Drive, Round Rock, TX 78681.
