Offer condolences


Shirley Yvonne Ball, 76, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, in her home in Elmendorf, Texas. Shirley was born on April 30, 1936, to James P. and Lois M. Sides.

She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend to many. Shirley married Michael S. Ball of Elmendorf on Dec. 19, 1953. Together they had five children.

Shirley was preceded in death by her father, James P. Sides; her husband, Michael S. Ball; son Wade A. Ball; and grandson Patrick W. Murphy.

She is survived by her mother, Lois M. Sides; sister Gloria Ann Hedges; sons Michael, Matthew, and James; daughter Laura; daughter-in-law Micki; grandchildren Michael Jr., Joseph, Jennifer, Dana and husband Shawn, Denise and husband Bryan, Jamie, and Brandi; great-grandchildren Blake, Weston, Shelby, Brooke, Journey, and Logan; sister-in-law Sister Isabel Ball; and oldest, dearest friend Gloria Blank.

Visitation was held on Thursday, Feb. 14, from 7-9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. in the Mission Park Funeral Chapels South in San Antonio.

A funeral service was held on Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Elmendorf.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, P.O. Box 248, Elmendorf, TX 78112.
