Karnes/Wilson Juvenile Probation Department is seeking the following positions: Juvenile Probation Officer: Must be degreed in Criminal Justice or related field with experience working with children and parents. Position is year round supervising juvenile offenders, making recommendations to court, curfew checks, and being on call. Attendance/Juvenile Probation Officer: Must be degreed in Criminal Justice or related field with experience working with children and parents. The Attendance Officer works same hours as the school districts providing prevention services to children and parents who have issues with truancy. Juvenile Probation Officer will manage a small caseload of juvenile offenders making recommendations to court, curfew checks, and being on call. Position is year round.  Individual must be versatile and able to separate prevention from intervention skills. Prevention Specialist: Position acts as a drill instructor within the environment of the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP). Follows JJAEP school calendar. This is a quasi-military program, so prior military experience a plus. Degreed individual preferred with experience working with children. Must be a Juvenile Supervision Officer or be able to obtain the certification. Administrative Prevention Specialist: Position acts as a drill instructor but takes on administrative assistant role to the Assistant Chief within the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP). Position will include direct contact with the child and parent. Must be a Juvenile Supervision Officer or able to obtain. Prefer degreed individual. Must have knowledge of military procedures. Emory Bascom Jones Jr., formerly of San Antonio, Texas, and a resident of Floresville since 2000, entered eternal rest Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at 10:50 a.m. in his residence at the age of 63 years, 4 months, and 26 days. Emory was born Sept. 16, 1949, in San Antonio, the son of Dorothy Decker and Emory Bascom Jones Sr.

Emory graduated from Edison High School in San Antonio, and worked as a machinist for years before retiring. He married Cheryl Billimek on Oct. 8, 1994. Emory graduated from Thomas Alva Edison in 1967. He was a self-employed design engineer. Throughout his career Emory owned and operated several businesses: Northtown Custom Cycles, Armor Machine Co., and Bascom’s Machine & Welding.

Emory was preceded in death by his father, Emory Bascom Jones Sr.; his mother, Dorothy Decker Ecord; and his sister-in-law, Deborah Billimek Gorzell.

He is survived by his wife of more than 18 years, Cheryl Billimek Jones of Floresville; his children, Kimberly Lubianski and husband Todd of St. Hedwig, and Payton Blaine Jones and Merlin Edward Jones, both of Floresville; his half-sister, Bryann Rubey and husband Gene of California; his grandchildren, Taylor, Parker, and Keegan Lubianski; his father- and mother-in-law, Robert and Gladys Billimek; his sisters-in-law, Roberta Johns and husband David, Pamela Carson and husband Charles Carson III, Michelle Broyles and fiancée Tony Volner, and Barbara Bond and husband Kirk; numerous nieces and nephews; and his great friend, David McGuyer.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 5 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Poth.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth, officiated by the Rev. Grzegorz Szewczyk, S.D.S.

Interment followed in the Blessed Sacrament Cemetery in Poth.

Serving as pallbearers were David Johns, Terry Bolf, Danny Bolf, Luke Johns, Kirk Bond, and Tony Volner.
