Delbert Arthur (D.A.) “Buddy” King passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, in Floresville, Texas, at the age of 83 years, 6 months, and 29 days. He was born July 15, 1929, in Floresville, the son of Richard Leslie and Cora Ella King. He was a lifelong resident of Floresville.

Buddy was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Stockdale and was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a Mason for 50 years and was a member of Channelview, Texas Masonic Lodge, Stockdale Masonic Lodge No. 470, and the Floresville Masonic Lodge No. 515.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lynette King; his first wife, Juanita King; his son, Jay King, and his brothers, Bobby King, David King, and Joey King.

Buddy is survived by his children, Linda Ella Weimmer and husband Richard of La Vernia, Judith Evelyn Fleming and husband Randy of Floresville, and Richard Owen King of Floresville; and his sisters, Genevieve Worthington, Cora Jean Mints, and Elsie Mae Wright, all of Floresville, and Ida Elizabeth Rodgers of Union Valley. He is also survived by his brothers, Richard Lee King and wife Pauline of McKinney, George Edward King of Leesville, and James Ray King and wife Diane, Samuel Lester King and wife Louise, William Leslie King and wife Alice, Howard Ernest King and wife Brenda, and Stephen Earl King and wife Marilyn, all of Floresville; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Visitation was held Sunday, Feb. 17, at 5 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville.

A funeral service was held Monday at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Stockdale with the Rev. John L. Nicholson and the Rev. Carolyn McGuire officiating.

Interment followed in the Stockdale Cemetery in Stockdale.

Serving as pallbearers were Jimmy King, George King, Bobby Brown, John Young, Vernon Brown, and Randy Fleming.
