The 56th La Vernia Junior Livestock and Poultry Show, sponsored by the La Vernia Chamber, will be held Thursday, Feb. 28, through Saturday, March 2, at the chamber grounds off of U.S. 87W in La Vernia.

Everyone is invited to help in supporting another great show for the La Vernia Independent School District’s 4-H and FFA exhibitors.

Rabbits start judging events on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the show ring.

On Friday, judging continues at 8 a.m. with turkeys, followed by broilers. The lamb judging starts at 10 a.m., followed by goats. At 2 p.m., the steer judging starts, followed by breeding cattle. At 6 p.m., the last of the judging events -- the swine show -- begins with the breeding swine followed by market swine.

The baked foods show and arts and crafts judging also take place on Friday, with an auction for these exhibitors at 4 p.m. in the show arena.

The livestock and poultry exhibitors will have their auction on Saturday at noon in the sale arena.

Food booths, refreshments, exhibits, and arts and crafts booths will be available throughout the show. No barbecue meal will be held again this year, but the hospitality building will be open for auction buyers with sandwiches, snacks, and refreshments starting at 10 a.m. A meet and greet with sign-up of buyers will be held at this time, with auction sheets and add-on forms available. The buyer’s pool will also be accepting donations for the 2013 show.

For more information about booths, call Charity at 830-534-9241.

Should you have any questions or need additional information, contact Mark Koepp at 210-288-9889 or Sarah Young at 830-947-3322, 210-259-9886, or sandryoung123@gmail.com.
