Staples to speak at Lincoln Day Dinner Feb. 21
Texas Ag Commissioner Todd Staples
Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples will be the guest speaker at the annual Wilson County Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner, to be held Thursday, Feb. 21, in the Floresville Event Center, located off S.H. 97 west of Floresville.
Staples has served as agriculture commissioner since 2007. Prior to serving in his present position, Staples served as a state senator (2001-07), a member of the Texas House of Representatives (1995-2001), and a city councilman in Palestine (1989-91).
His professional experience includes being a partner in a cow-calf operation; a member of the Popp and Ikard Property Tax Law Firm; an instructor at Trinity Valley Community College; a rancher; and a real estate appraiser.
A social hour and silent auction will begin at 6 p.m. with dinner served at 7 p.m. A buffet beef and chicken dinner, catered by Werner’s, will cost $25 per person.
Staples’ address will be followed by a live auction with auctioneer Ron Wiatrek.
