1952-2013

Walter Alvin Vorauer, a longtime resident of Floresville, entered eternal rest Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, in Floresville at the age of 60 years, 8 months, and 1 day. Walter was born June 11, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Max L. and Dorothy Boenisch Vorauer.

After graduation from Holmes High School in San Antonio, Walter attended San Antonio College and graduated from the San Antonio Police Academy. He was retired from law-enforcement and various other law enforcement agencies, after many years of faithful service. Walter married Julia Ann Smith on Aug. 2, 1978. He was a member of the Catholic faith, and loved every day of being a policeman. In his spare time, Walter enjoyed woodworking, but most of all, Walter especially loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren, who will always remember his tremendous love for them, said his family.

Walter is survived by his loving wife of more than 34 years, Julia Ann Smith Vorauer; his daughter, Melaney Vorauer Bravo and husband John; Melaney’s two half-sisters, Heather Wiedenbach and Hollye Colbert; his grandchildren, Danica and Blake Bravo; his parents, Max and Dorothy Vorauer; and his brothers, Robert Vorauer and wife Cindy, Herbert Vorauer and wife Joan, and Mike Vorauer.

Visitation was held on Friday, Feb. 15, at 11:30 a.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville. A funeral service was held on Friday at 1 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Stefan Wiera.

Interment followed in the Floresville City Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were Walter’s dearest friends and colleagues with the Bexar County Police Honor Guard.
