FLORESVILLE -- Mexican national Marcus De Leon, 26, faces deportation after his Feb. 13 arrest by Patrolman Eric Hutchinson of the Floresville Police Department. De Leon was charged with criminal mischief causing more than $50 but less than $500 damage, criminal trespass, and evading arrest or detention.

According to Floresville Lt. Chad Clark, De Leon -- a former employee of Delilah’s Bistro on C Street -- was the subject of a previous criminal trespass warning from that location. At approximately 12:20 p.m., a worker at Delilah’s called police to report De Leon was beside the building pulling up flowers and shrubs. When Hutchinson confronted him, De Leon allegedly fled on foot.

Hutchinson pursued De Leon to the lobby of the Carvajal Law Offices at the corner of D and Third streets, where he tackled the suspect in the lobby. As a result of the investigation, it was determined that De Leon was not legally permitted to reside in the United States.

Other recent arrests by the Floresville Police Department include Melissa Aranda, 32, of Floresville, who was arrested Feb. 15 at approximately 11 p.m. and charged with possession of more than 1 gram but less than 4 grams of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1 and possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana. According to Patrolman Daniel Small Jr.’s report, he conducted a traffic stop of Aranda’s vehicle near the corner of Fourth and Peach streets, during which he found the 3.7 grams of marijuana and 1.2 grams of methamphetamine during a consensual search of the vehicle.

Aranda was booked into the Wilson County Jail, where records indicate she was released after posting a total of $11,000 bond.

In an unrelated incident, Patrolman Robert Gonzalez arrested Bernardo Rodriguez Jr., 44, of Floresville Feb. 18 and charged him with theft of less than $20,000 worth of material containing aluminum, bronze, copper, or brass. This was after witnesses reported Rodriguez stealing scrap metal from among the debris of two mobile homes being dismantled on 10th Street (U.S. 181). Police responded again when Rodriguez allegedly returned to the scene.

Rodriguez was booked into the Wilson County Jail, where records indicate he was released after posting $8,000 bond.

Illegal aliens; like guest workers, are easy to spot. They have a stupid looking blank stare in their eyes
